Web Holiday Sales Skyrocket for Sports and Fitness

elliptical2008 was the year of the financial meltdown, the dismal economy, rampant foreclosures and gouging gas prices. But at least web holiday retail sales in the Sports and Fitness category were up -- big time. Considering That's Fit is all about helping you reach your diet and fitness goals, that economic news feels great.

Consumers may not have the money for event tickets, but they're spending on-line for treadmills, ellipticals and other sports and fitness items. According to the web measurement firm comScore, Inc., 2008 on-line Sports and Fitness sales increased 18 percent over last year during the December 1-24 holiday period. Only three out of 14 retail categories saw holiday on-line sales growth, the rest crashed. Jewelry/Watches were down 24 percent, Music/Movies/Videos plummeted 32 percent.

I hope consumers keep their click 'n purchase focus on health and fitness -- regularly stepping on a quality residential treadmill is a better way to keep you ticking than buying that Rolex.
