Yogurt - The Skinny on the Frozen Stuff

So, what's the difference between regular and frozen yogurt? Are they essentially the same and one is just colder than the other? Nope. No matter how you scoop it, frozen yogurt is less nutritious than regular.

Frozen yogurt is actually closer to low-fat ice cream than regular yogurt. It just doesn't contain the same amount of calcium, prebiotics or probiotics -- you know, the stuff that helps us stay healthy. Frozen yogurt does help us stay happy (who doesn't love a cup of ice-creamy goodness?), but it just doesn't deliver the way we might hope. Plus, we're more likely to add sugary, fat-filled toppings to our cold treats. And plop the whole thing in a crunchy waffle cone. And add an extra scoop. And, well, turn it into a decadent dessert.

If you plan to indulge in a swirly snack in the future, check out the Nutrition Facts, opt for fat-free and no-sugar-added versions and make it a kid-size serving for sure. If you must have a topping, make it mixed nuts or fresh fruit.
