Biggest Loser: Families Winner

The Biggest Loser Families finale didn't disappoint last night, awarding Michelle (pictured, right) the Biggest Loser crown. Really, it should be a tiara, she is beauty-contest gorgeous. America loves a happy ending, and the blogosphere clearly was rooting for kind-hearted Michelle. She played an honorable game, the exact opposite of drama queens Manipulator Vicky and Pick-On-Phil Heba. Trainer Jillian did it again, a key player in facilitating Michelle's growth on the inside, so she could ultimately chip away at the outside. Here are the juicy finale details:

America Votes Third Finalist
-- Ed won with 84 percent of the nation's vote. Even though he pleaded his wife's case, an overwhelming majority did not want Heba to be a finalist. Smart call, she lost an amazing 138 pounds, dropping from biggest-woman 294 pounds to 156. That 46.8 total percentage weight loss narrowly inched out Picked-On-Phil's wife Amy P. for the $100,000 at-home prize. I didn't think Heba had it in her, she proved me wrong. Phil looked pretty good, didn't he?

Amazing Transformations -- It was a watershed of weight loss for departed contestants. Stacey dropped nearly 30 percent of her body weight on her own after leaving the show Week 1. I didn't recognize 51-year-old Jerry, Coleen's dad, who reversed his inner age clock back 24 years from the start of the show. By losing 115 pounds, he also kicked three diseases and all five of his medications. This is why Biggest Loser is such a success. It's not strictly a show about losing the weight, it's about gaining back your life by saying goodbye to the habits of morbid obesity.

No Win, But A Near Stiletto Wipeout -- Vicky almost bit it on stage. I shouldn't laugh, that'd be something I'd do. While Vicky dropped 101 pounds, it wasn't enough to beat Michelle or Ed. Viewers and contestants angry for her gaming ways are satisfied. The game aside, I'm grateful Vicky and Brady's kids, Chance and Lucy, have a new lease on life. I'm certain they know what broccoli looks like now.

Good Try, Ed -- Going from a 335-pound chef who tastes everything, to a 196-pound chef who tastes nothing, Ed wins this season's willpower award.

Contestants, Now What? -- The money is off the table, no more finale date circled on the calendars. Season 6 players have left reality television for the realities of living. May they all look as good as Ali (last season's winner) one year from now. Diet and exercise are the magic elixirs on this one, which is why you all read That's Fit, right? I wish them luck.

Be ready for the next round of Biggest Loser, premiering just around the corner on January 6, 2009. You'll meet 11 teams weighing a whopping three-and-a-half tons, and two of the heaviest male and female contestants ever will get a new chance at life. Check out the upcoming Season 7 photos here. See you next month.
