Hanukkah Recipes Made Healthier

When I was little, I was lucky enough to celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. The little girls across the street -- my best friends -- were Jewish. Our parents let us celebrate holidays and go to worship services with each other. It was a blessing; all three of us grew up with respect for different beliefs and a greater understanding of our religions. December was definitely a favorite time for us girls. They helped decorate our tree, and there were presents waiting underneath it for them on Christmas morning. I got to watch their father light the menorah each night, and there was always Hanukkah Gelt (in the form of chocolate coins) and other small gifts for me.
But Hanukkah dinners at their house were always my favorite. The traditional foods for Hanukkah are so delicious (and my friends' mother was/is an amazing cook). Her braided challah was to die for and who doesn't like a good potato latke? But those latkes don't just pack great flavor -- they also pack a lot of fat. Luckily, Eating Well has recipes for healthier versions of Hanukkah favorites -- check them out.
