Name: Jorn
Age: 38
Occupation: "Tech Things"
How often do you exercise? Three to five days a week.
What type of exercise do you do? Resistance work; I hope to get back to TaeKwonDo soon.
What gets you to work out, even when you're feeling lazy? 1. Knowing that I have never, ever, ever said to myself, "Gee, that workout sucked. I shouldn't have exercised today." 2. Back fat. Ewww. 3. Most people peg me for being 10-15 years younger than I am. That didn't happen when I was fat a few years ago.
What's on your MP3 player? High tempo dancy stuff. Fitcast and Poddrunner are the best podcasts. Basement Jaxx has a bunch of great workout tunes.
Favorite healthy food? Quinoa
Favorite not-so-healthy food? Ice cream. Please hit me; hard.
Greatest fitness accomplishment? More than one doctor has condemned me to just accept a life of pain due to my "back of a 95 year old man." They've restricted me to 8 lbs of any kind of lifting. Phooey! I got tired of being fat and depressed and started fixing myself up. Despite the fact that I was born with four fused vertebrae and had another pair fused with titanium in '99, I can still touch my toes. My weight is nearly where it was when I graduated in 1989, and my goals for the end of the year include 100 pushups and 20 pullups. So there!
Best fitness advice?
- Get your pulse up by working your entire body.
- Understand how your body works and what it REALLY does with food. Do you know what insulin and glycogen do? Make peace with them.
-
Align those hormone levels; this saved my life.
-
Don't make time; TAKE time. That is, take it back from all those things that are stealing it from you.
***You're a rock star, Jorn! Overcoming back pain is no fun, nor is it easy. Great feature, Fitz!
