How much more can we say about Thanksgiving, right? I mean, we keep telling you the same things over and over again: Don't get fat on the feast, and keep your butt moving. There's some beauty in our repetitive messages, though -- they're simple, easy to remember and with a little effort, they work. So here I am, with another regeneration of what we've been telling you for weeks, this time from the experts at a health and fitness center who want you to aim for safe and healthy holiday eating. Here's what they say.

  • Be cautious. Don't leave food sitting out, unless you want your loved ones to get sick. Try clearing out your fridge ahead of time to make room for the lingering leftovers.
  • Eat breakfast. Don't skip meals to make room for the main event. It will only set you up for overeating.
  • Be active. Skip the nap and take a brisk walk before and after the feast.
  • Cover your plate with veggies. The more veggies that cover your plate, the less room for carbohydrates.
  • Enjoy. Indulge for the day if you must -- overeating for one day won't break your diet plan. After the holiday, though, head back to your regular eating and exercise habits.

Think you've got the message yet? If not, never fear -- I'm sure we'll be back with more before it's time to thrown down that first plate of turkey.
