Walking the Walk - Day 7
Day 7: Well, am I ever glad that's over. At Day 7, my no-sugar blues are gone. My cravings aren't, unfortunately, but it's getting easier every day. Though I no longer feel low, I do feel different. It's hard to explain ... level is the right word for it, I think. Maybe this is how people -- people who are not constantly feeding themselves sugar and therefore riding the sugar-high roller coaster, that is -- feel all the time.
I have to be honest when I say that it's not an entirely good feeling, not yet at least. But I think that's because I'm still missing those quick pick-me-ups. (Even rats binge on sugar when given the opportunity, and researchers believe it's because of the rush of dopamine they get from doing so.)
The silver lining is that it's becoming far easier to control my appetite. I no longer find myself standing in front of the snack cupboard, telling myself that I don't need anything else to eat.
