Alicia Silverstone Authoring Vegan Diet Book
Categories: Celebs & Entertainment, Alternative & Green Health
Alicia Silverstone is well-known for her views on animal rights and for being a vegan. Several years ago, she appeared in a series of ads for PETA and Jacki recently told us why Silverstone is thankful for her healthful diet. Now Silverstone is taking her knowledge of the vegan lifestyle and releasing a diet book called The Kind Diet.
The book is scheduled to release in Fall 2009 and will include a 3-step diet program that doesn't focus on weight loss, but on the environmental impact of meat production and how the food we eat affects how we look and feel.

She does look better than ever. That might be a good book to buy as long as the recipes aren't too complicated.

Alicia is not only a beautiful woman, but she is not the typical Hollywood fodder of tabloids like some well known Hollywood bubbleheads. I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.

I find it funny that she calls it the "kind" diet, when she was so "unkind" to Elisabeth Hasselbeck on The View. She's the only "guest" on that show to walk on, and totally IGNORE & WALK RIGHT PAST Elisabeth when she held out her hand to shake it. Even people who disagree with Elisabeth, when they've come on the show, have acted grown up enough to hold out a hand of "hello, how are you?" to her. It shows how "narrow-minded," and "un-kind" Ms. Silverstone is, and "childish" as well. There was quite a hoopla about it on The View site after she did it; and even Joy Behar doesn't agree with people who do that...she said on Larry King that the minute the camera goes off, they all talk as if nothing has happened. Too bad Alicia can't BE FRIENDLY to those she disagrees with. I'll keep eating meat...thank you...that's why God put "acid" in our stomachs...and why we digest meat in the stomach, and all the other "soft" foods in the mouth...they don't even make it to the stomach to digest....the enzymes are all put out in the mouth. We weren't given "acid" in the stomach to digest "lettuce"...lol I wonder if she SITS ON LEATHER SOFAS, OR WEARS MAKE UP....lol (hypocrite!) Some of the FINEST LEATHER still has the animals scars on it....people need to wake up. I wonder if she wears LEATHER SHOES....the finest leather shoes still have the markings of the animal...so much for loving and caring for animals...if you're going to do it...then DO IT! Don't pick & choose what you're going to do.

Hi Linda,
I'm not a vegetarian either. I don't eat much meat -- but I do like it. However, I can respect another person's decision to be vegan/vegetarian.
And, for what it's worth, Alicia Silverstone doesn't wear anything made from animals. She even brought her own non-leather shoes to a photo shoot.

joncdodge,
Vegetarianism is not a craze, it has been practiced for thousands of years all over the world. My ancestors who lived long healthy lives have been veg. in India. Go to a dating site like veggiedate.com g and see how much thinner and younger the people look compared to normal dating sites. That's not proof, but it's just a sampling
And as for PETA, I disassociated myself with them, (not as if I was ever a member, but I read their stuff), because of that stunt. They are ridiculous. All vegetarians aren't PETA supporters and we all aren't righteous. Maybe you should read these...

Linda Bailey,
We need acid to digest all food, not just meat. And if we were meant to be carnivores, would we have to use tools to kill animals and would we have to cook it to eat it without stressing our digestive system?
If you are so critical of somebody who doesn't eat animals, then that doesn't make a person who wears leather any worse. In fact, if meat consumption is what provides the leather that others wear. If people didn't eat meat, shoes would be available in other materials. If you love and care for animals, then why do you eat meat? Farm animals feel must as much pain as animals we call pets.
Don't even get me started about the negative environmental effects of meat production. It's huge, much worse than people driving gas guzzlers.
