Apple Pie - How Many Calories?

Pumpkin pie is the thing to eat this time of year -- it's a Thanksgiving staple and in my family, there's usually enough pie left over to last us for a week. But not everyone likes pumpkin pie and for that reason (as well as the fact that some people have two types of pie to devour), many families offer varieties of pies to choose from. Our family, for instance, always has a fresh apple pie on stand-by.
Apple pie sounds somewhat healthy -- warm apples gently sweetened and spiced, oozing out of a flaky crust -- but we all know better than to assume that healthy sounding equals healthy. Particularly when there's the possibility of ice cream involved. So what do you think?

To be fair, this is a restaurant version, meaning that for the sake of a profit, there's more fat than in your dear old grandmother's apple pie. Plus, restaurant portions are notoriously large, so you probably wouldn't eat this whole thing after a big turkey dinner.
A small slice of homemade or store bought apple pie will probably have around 350 calories. A small scoop of vanilla ice cream on top will have about 150 calories. Enjoy, but do so with caution and reserve -- 500 apple pie calories will take over two hours to walk off.
