I was fat before, Fitz, and now I'm not. I learned something from the experience, too, about what makes people fat and how people get thin.
From my experience, people are fat because they work too hard, not because they don't work enough. They work hard on what matters to other people and what helps other people, not on themselves.
I personally managed to lose weight by spoiling myself rotten. I had to become arrogant enough to believe that I'm worth it. I had to be vain enough to want to be healthy and look good more than all the other things I should probably be doing. I had to be gluttonous to know food well and fussy enough to eat only the best. Exercise time is time that isn't being used to help others. For me, physical activity (I don't like to call it "exercise" because I'm really just having fun and enjoying myself when I work up a sweat) is easy now, but it's also time when I'm ignoring the phone and not being available to others who might need me.
Many people aren't fat because they're lazy or undisciplined. They're fat because they work too hard, don't enjoy themselves enough, and aren't arrogant enough to think they're worth the time it takes to spoil themselves. Admonishing them that they're not working hard enough is only going to make the problem worse. It's not a matter of will power -- it's a matter of deciding that my own personal health is worth more than all the other people who want my time.
I admit to being a spoiled brat, but I'm also very healthy now. I went from borderline diabetic with high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and bad cholesterol ratio to very healthy indicators all around. My risk for heart disease is now

Some people have better things to do with their lives. From some points of view, the price of a good body would arguably be a piece of their soul.
The fat people I know are very sweet, and they work very hard. They just consider it more important to work on helping others rather than spending time on themselves. Telling them they aren't working hard enough isn't going to help them.

Sorry you misinterpreted that! My message was and is ... YOU CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BE! There's so much opportunity for everyone to have a healthy body and high esteem because of it. Too many people spend time 'wishing' they could be one thing, but settle for another. I want everyone to know with effort, they can acheive great strength, endurance or even their own version of a better body.
My role is to provide honest feedback while reminding people what they're capable of achieving! Fitz
