Sex - size really doesn't matter
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Motivation
Overweight women are having more sex than women of a normal weight. Are you surprised?Researchers who conducted the study are surprised. "These results were unexpected and we don't really know why this is the case," said one of the study's authors.
What's really unexpected here, I think, is their reaction. Have those persuasive media images that tell us what's "beautiful" influenced even people who should be above such things?
Here at That's Fit, we encourage a fit and healthy lifestyle, and that includes maintaining a healthy weight. But I think true "fitness" is more than that. It's about having the confidence to live a full and active life. Enjoying a healthy sex life has little to do with perfect abs and has everything to do with confidence.
If your extra weight lowers your self-esteem, then, sure, it's going to affect your sex life. But we all know people with perfect bodies and not a shred of confidence. So why, then, are these researchers so surprised?
What do you think? How much does weight play a role in a healthy sex life?

Hm... Some random guesses...
Links didn't give much detail about the study at all, but they do seem to at least indicate that the study based the results on BMI. One possible explanation is that people who have more sex are more muscular and thus have higher BMIs. Because they're using BMI for the study, maybe it's muscle rather than fat.
Another possible explanation is that hormones are fat-soluable, which might result in a higher libido for people with more fat.

Not to put a downer on this study but, when I was much heavier, I had a lot of sex too.....because I had such low self esteem that almost any guy that paid me alot of attention could have almost anything he wanted. It was a way to feel desired, even if deep down you know the real reason you are doing it.
