Dieting Diaries: Momlogic Moms test drive the hottest diets
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss
Losing weight is usually a concern for moms; shedding the baby weight can take months, sometimes years -- unless you're a celebrity, that is.
Over at Momlogic, some of the moms are trying to lose weight, and they're using the sort of hot Hollywood weight loss programs we're always hearing about. Jenny is trying The Zone, Julie is trying Weight Watchers, Gillian is trying a food delivery service, Jill is trying the ever-bewildering Morning Banana Diet, and Melissa (poor soul) is trying the Master Cleanse diet -- aka, the lemonade, maple syrup and cayenne pepper diet. But she doesn't mind -- she said she did it with ease before and lost 17 pounds.
Who will be successful? My money's on Julie with the Weight Watchers plan -- WW seems to teach you life-long healthy habits rather than advocating a quick fix. The Master Cleanse diet will definitely help Melissa lose weight in a hurry (how can you not when you're hardly consuming any calories?) but I'm guessing that weight will come back once she starts eating regularly again. As for Jill and the Morning Banana Diet? I can't imagine that diet ever working. Which plan do you think will be the most successful?
Stay tuned for results -- so far, it's still early. I know I'm anxious to see what each mom has to say about her diet.

Momlogic's Melissa is very irresponsible. Even when the Master Cleanse is working the way they claim, part of the detoxification process includes cravings, tiredness, irritability, physical aches, pains, nausea, vomiting, etc. It's fine if she wants to destroy her own health, but it seems very cruel to her family to intentionally do something that will make her less functional. I feel very sorry for the families of people who decide to go on the Master Cleanse diet. Also, Melissa isn't actually overweight. (None of these moms are, but the other diets aren't doing anything potentially dangerous.) Why would Melissa unnecessarily want to lose 20 lbs and potentially subject her family to having a tired, irritable mom?
