NYC Subway ads preach moderation to the masses

What do you think of the posters? Personally, I think this is a fantastic idea -- right up there with calorie counts on menus. Realizing how bad (or good) your favourite fast foods meals are is the first step towards making healthy choices every day.

I think they should've used water instead of diet soda. Then, they can say that water, burger, and smaller fries costs less than the soda and super-sized fries too.
Also, that burrito plate looks delicious, and the fast food ad made me crave fries. I haven't even thought about french fries in years, much less craved or touched one. After seeing the NYC posters, though, I want some fries rather badly. That must mean that I don't even see french fries ads on TV, and I watch at least an hour of TV every night. Those NYC ads make food look way too good, and while the brain might get the health message, the big problem is that people's brains are not in control of cravings. If they want people to eat less, they shouldn't make bad food look so picture-perfectly appetizing in their ads. They should've taken pictures of real fast food, slapped together quickly and dripping in oil and grease, rather than the pretty airbrushed pictures that the fast food companies use to attract people to bad food. Really, the food that restaurants actually serve look nowhere near that good. Those pretty picture-perfect ads entice the subconscious to go order more bad food because we have this pretty image of what it's going to look like, and then when we get it, it doesn't look the same, but we don't want to waste money, so we eat it anyways.
So, I think those NYC ads are going to backfire on them.

The ads are better than the city trying to regulate what we eat. The government as a whole is trying to legislate good eating habits - WRONG! We are responsible for what we eat... and we should have choices, maybe my next donut should have a little nutrition sticker stuck on the bottom too. Having been a former fat @#$, I know that eating just about anything in moderation is okay. It comes down to knowing when to stop. It is much easier to eat just a small portion of something than to try and lose the weight from overindulging. I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.
