Daily Fit Tip: Think like an endurance athlete

Posted on Oct 10th 2008 6:00AM by Rigel Celeste
Endurance athletes are some of the most disciplined, dedicated people. Tap into that mojo by learning how to think like they do.

Endurance athletes bring new meaning to the phrase "it's all in your head" as most of them have these traits in common:

  • They're always looking to push themselves and to take on a greater challenge
  • They take it one step (sometimes literally!) at a time
  • They don't compromise
  • They compete against themselves
  • They embrace failure as part of the process, and as a chance to learn
  • They find ways to finish

Whether you want to run a marathon or not, these are solid, healthy principles to live by. Which ones are you weakest at? Personally, I think I compromise too much and start making excuses when things get tough. But no more! I'm inspired to set my goal, stick to it like glue, and above all: Find a way to finish.
