Strict diet, exercise does trick for Alba
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment
It took me five years -- five years! -- after having my second baby to get my body pretty much where I want it. It took Jessica Alba three months. The combination of full-time mommy duties, always-changing schedules, a crappy diet, and cancer just kept me forever short of my goals. Ah, to have succeeded in three months. If you want to knock off some baby weight, you might want to follow Alba's lead -- if life allows for such a schedule, that is. Here's how the 27-year-old mom of baby Honor Marie did it.
- Alba consistently worked out -- one hour per day, five or six days per week.
- Alba stuck with a strict daily diet of 1,700 calories -- exercise and diet together allowed her to lose 600 calories each day. The diet was both low-fat and low-carb -- part of trainer Ramona Braganza's 321 Baby Bulge Be Gone plan.
- While vacationing, Alba stays active -- swimming and volleyball are favorite activities.

I love her honesty. I gained a ton when I was pregnant and it was a lot of work losing it. Why do so many Hollywood stars like to pretend they do nothing and lose weight. My new favorite is the ridiculously skinny girl on the new 90210 who says she eats whatever she wants all the time. Or Angie Harmon who claims to eat Godiva chocolates and a pint of ice cream every night.
I am vain so I love to stay fit and look as young as I can. I drink tons of water wear sunblock (the cvs brand is great) and wear smartsole anti-cellulite insoles that cause you to burn more calories with every step. I bought them at http://www.smartsole.com and used the coupon code that I read about on the Oprah site (great for tips!) SMART15 and got 15% off The insoles are comfortable and like the MBT trainers that are way too pricey and not practical

You could have lost the baby weight in 3 months if you had nannies and housekeepers and chefs to prepare you diet meals and a personal trainer to oversee your exercise so you didn't have to deal with the baby at all, except to cuddle her several times a day!!!

I agree with Mosey. It's often harder for "regular" folks to lose the weight after having a baby because you're not getting the full night's rest and off time that the stars have. It's not that you were undisciplined; your body was holding on to that fat because it needed energy to get through the day. Articles like this scare me because it assumes that the average person is like the average millionaire star. We can't compete with them. They have people who put them together. We only have ourselves. The real article here would be if Jessica Alba, who has made it clear that she hated being pregnant, still had baby weight 4 months later.

I just had a baby 6 months ago and look pretty much the same as I did before the baby. I don't let myself overeat. I don't think it is as difficult to lose the baby weight as many people make it out to be. I think lots of mothers use it as an excuse to be lazy and gain weight. I lost 40lbs (including baby) in a short time. I never starve myself and eat brownies and cake and junk all the time and stay slim. It's called portion control. You don't need a nanny for that!

The answer to loosing baby weight is breast feeding!!! I gained 50lbs while pregnant with both my children and was back to pre preg. wt of 125lbs in 6months. No dieting or exercising!
Not to mention it is sooo good for baby!!!

Well, Amber, I guess I'm just too lazy. Thanks for the tip!
