Daily Fit Tip: Try exercise to keep the nicotine cravings at bay
Categories: Daily Fit Tip
Quitting smoking? Donning the old nicotine patch is one way you can curtail your addiction. But there's an even more effective (and healthier) way to deal with cravings:
Exercise. In a study involving pregnant women, it was found that exercising twice a week was as effective in helping women quit smoking as the nicotine patch, but without the potentially harmful effects to the fetus. Not pregnant? I think these findings can be applied universally -- exercise is a good way to curb any kind of craving. Next time you're feeling the need to smoke, try heading to the treadmill. Maybe it will nip your craving in the bud, or maybe it won't. Either way, though, you've got nothing to lose by getting a little exercise.
