Daily Fit Tip: Stick to your guns

Apple or candy bar -- which one would you choose to snack on? I'm guessing most will choose the apple. If, however, I had both snacks on hand, which would you choose?

Believe it or not, it's fairly likely you'll choose the candy bar despite initially picking the apple.

During recent studies at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, that's what happened, anyway -- of participants who told researchers that they would choose an apple or banana over a candy bar or molasses wafer if given the choice, 27% switched from the healthy side to the unhealthy side when actually given the choice. And of those who initially picked an unhealthy snack? Ninety percent stuck to the unhealthy snack, indicating that unless you have some sort of inclination to eat healthfully, you almost certainly won't make healthy choices.

The moral of the story? If you make up your mind to be healthy, follow through with it. After all, nobody improved their life with good health intentions, you know?
