BODYFLOW yourself
Categories: Fitness
I stumbled into a BODYFLOW class a couple weeks ago at my local health club. I've been working through a running-related groin/hip/butt injury for a few weeks, and after some physical therapy, I'm starting to see the light. I actually entered a group exercise room, unthinkable a month ago.
If BODYFLOW is offered in your area, check it out. The class rolls 55 minutes of tai chi, yoga, pilates and relaxation into a pretty tasty tamale. I love the relaxing tai chi warm-ups, and the music is prompting me to reach farther into yoga's Proud Warrior than I'd ever try at home. I'm psyched the class works on the core, haven't done much of that since my injury. After just three BODYFLOW classes, my hips are opening up, my hamstrings don't twang anymore and I'm calmer. Here's an outline of a typical class.
Les Mills and family are group exercise-to-music masterminds, with over 12,000 licensed clubs now sporting the Les Mills brand, including classes such as BODYATTACK, the famous BODYPUMP and BODYSTEP. Click on this class locator to see if BODYFLOW is near you.

As an AFAA certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer - I will say this about Les Mills. Your buck pays for the bling of the Les Mills name. Colorful posters and pre-choreographed music/classes.
I'm not saying Les Mills isn't effective. What I am saying is you can find the same effective workout through any qualified, experienced trainer in any of the categories mentioned from tai chi to Pilates to yoga.
Your job as someone who wants to work out effectively is to find a qualified instructor with experience that gives you results while keeping you safe.
As an instructor I choose not to use Les Mills. It is a marketing scam that costs trainers/instructors unnecessary $$ for the bling of the buck. I'd rather put my money into certifications and workshops through qualified instructors.

Let me first say great job on this post. I agree with you that Body Flow is great.
Just to let you know..... You forgot about all the other formats that Les Mills offers like the one I teach RPM. There is also Body Combat, Body Jam, and Body Vibe.
As for NRJiiD's comment, I will never say that one type of cert is better than the other, but I do feel that Les Mills takes the time out to give the instructors great workouts and keeps them up to date on. I would not call that a marketing scam.
