Avoiding the scale means you don't have to face the facts -- or does it? Just because you don't know exactly how many pounds you've gained, doesn't mean you didn't gain any. As this article from Prevention Magazine points out, you need to be honest with yourself. Yes, it might hurt a little to see those numbers, but ultimately, this will motivate you.
But don't get too obsessed. Weighing yourself once a month or once a week is normal -- weighing yourself several times a day is not.
