5 things you should be doing with water
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss

You should be swimming in water -- nothing too strenuous, just a leisurely paddle in the pool can boost your mood. Do your exercise in the water and you might just feel that "high" runners talk about, but without overstressing your joints.
You should be listening to water -- preferably the crashing water found at the beach, but running water works too. Listen to taped water sounds if you can't get the real thing, because those who experience the sound of the surf report better quality of sleep, fewer awakenings, and deeper sleep overall.
You should be splashing water -- well, you don't need to do the splashing yourself but find a waterfall, a park fountain, even a sprinkler and then stop, relax, take a few deep breaths, and let your stress wash away. You might also jump in the shower. Researchers say that a five-minute warm shower can significantly cut anxiety.
You should be soaking in water -- soaking in a warm tub helps us relax and can decrease depression and anxiety. A foot bath works. So does running warm water over your wrists for 30 seconds. Don't think of a bath as a luxury -- consider it an essential part of healthy living.
