Tim Tebow to be first non-pro on cover of Men's Fitness
Posted on Aug 20th 2008 12:00PM by Kristen SeymourMen's Fitness magazine has had numerous athletes grace its cover, representing many sports, but for 26 years, one thing has been constant -- they've all been professional athletes. For the first time, the man on the cover will be a college athlete -- September's issue will feature Florida Gators QB Tim Tebow.
Why Tebow? Why is he so special? Roy Johnson, Men's Fitness Editor-in-Chief explained to the Orlando Sentinel, "That young man is a physical specimen ... He seems to embody what you want in a young athlete. So the story is not just for Gator fans but for everyone to get to know him."
Physical specimen is right -- he's strong, he's fast, and he's big. And, aside from that, he's an athlete people can look up to. He has long spent his off-time doing mission trips in other countries, and this past spring break he even did a little surgery in the Philippines.
Granted, as a Gator fan, I'm a little biased, but there's no doubt that Tebow is an exceptional athlete. Fortunately, Men's Fitness is sending extra copies to our area in anticipation of mega-sales -- I wouldn't want to miss this!
