Split and spin

Looking for a move that works just about your whole body? There are actually several that do, although relying on just that one exercise really isn't the best idea. However, incorporating that move into a more involved workout, which includes several other exercises, is definitely the way to go.One particularly effective exercise total-body exercise is the split-squat with rotation. To do it, start with your right foot forward, holding a weight (a dumbbell works fine) at your chest with both hands. Next, lower yourself down until your back knee almost touches the floor. At that point, rotate your torso clockwise. Finish by twisting back to the center and then pressing your body back up. Alternate the foot you lead with and the direction you twist your torso each rep.
To really turn up the dial on this move, try jumping into position each time rather than stepping forward and stepping back. This will add a cardio element to the exercise, in addition to working your quad muscles to the max.
