Back-to-school means back to sitting in desks all day, a good time to remind kids about posture.

Tell kids to "sit up straight" and they will... for a minute, only to slump back into poor posture when their muscles get tired. Better to teach them simple techniques for improving their posture as a matter of habit, so that sitting and learning does not cause pain.

Healthline has some simple tips for healthy sitting, including:
  1. Slide your bottom to the back of the chair, touching the chair back.
  2. Move your chair closer to your desk or table.
  3. Lean your upper (not your lower) back against the chair back and tuck your chin in loosely.
  4. Take frequent breaks to get up and move around.
These are great tips for kids and teens, but grown-ups need to remember them too. Check your posture ... does it need work?
