Quit smoking and get a new face

There are certainly a million plus reasons to quit smoking: the smell, the cancer risks, the heart disease, etc ... But now there is a new one! If you want to have plastic surgery on your face (and if you've smoked for a long time ... you probably want to), your doctor may insist that you quit before she'll do the procedure. Smoking interferes with the healing process.
This article tells the tale of a woman who repeatedly tried to quit smoking with no success. Until! That is ... her purpose for quitting was vanity. Hooray for that! I don't honestly care what she does with her face, I'm just grateful to have one less smoker in the world. I'm also thrilled that doctors have found a legitimately convincing way to get people to stop.
If you smoke, what would get you to stop?

Yes, Chantix was the best thing EVER. I smoked over a pack a day for over 30 years and after taking Chantix one week, I never smoked again. I only stayed on the pills for one month too. I enjoyed the fabulous dreams that came with the medication. Very vivid and some I remember to this day and that was 2 years ago! Try it, it works!

Same here...I needed a breast reduction, doctor wouldn't do it unless I stopped smoking. Told my primary doctor that the plastic surgeon got me to do what my primary doctor had been after me for for years!

It's sad that vanity is the only thing powerful enough to get some people to quit smoking. But hey, it that's what it takes.....

Sorry if that last comment sounded judgemental....I didn't mean it to. It's just that you think there would be so many more pwerful, important reasons to quit (your health, being a good role model for your kids, the expense, etc.).:)

Actually Deb, the notion that quitting smoking would make me a "good role model to my children" sounds EXTREMELY judgemental.
How does my making a stupid mistake as a teenager and taking up a 'habit' that is actually a lifelong ADDICTION make me a bad role model to my children? I am not intoxicated, or addled, or hurting anyone else-I light up w/o exposing others to the second hand smoke...
Just because you were smarter as a teenager [or more afraid of getting caught by your parents?] doesn't make you a better role model to your children than I am to mine.
I don't smoke indoors, I didn't smoke during my pregnancies, I pay my taxes, work hard, and am by all apreciable standards a thouroughly decent human being.

If you've never smoked you can't understand the addiction

I was a two pack a day smoker, then decided to take a long ocean trip (to Antarctica) and knew I would have to quit. I went to a hypnotist. One hour and $45 dollars later I was a nonsmoker. That was almost 30 years ago. During the trip I decided to quit drinking as well, and that also has been successful. I am not known for my will power, so if I could do it almost anyone can.

I used a stop-smoking cold laser therapy at Nu U Med Spa... it is similar to art of I used a stop-smoking laser at Nu u Mespa. Its similar to Acupuncture, using pressure points to balance the energy flow between meridians on your body and it helps you to release endorphins so you don't have the craving to smoke any more. Its has a very high success rate. If anyone lives in the Chicago area and wants to quit smoking, check it out!
