The 5 best running shoes
Categories: Fitness, Reviews & Products
If you're serious about running, there's no more important investment than your shoes. While you don't have to buy the most expensive shoes on the market (cost doesn't necessarily equal quality), you do want to make sure you have a properly fitted, supportive, and comfortable shoe. When you've got the right fit, a good shoe can enhance and improve your performance. Divine Caroline gives us a list of the top five running shoes.
When shopping for running shoes, be sure to wear the type of socks you would wear when running. Also, it's better to shop in the afternoon when your feet are a bit more swollen. Also, if the store has a treadmill or a small track for you to use, by all means, try them out.

As a distance runner, I highly recommend you do not go by this list. You need to get shoes that are the best fit for your arch type and how you pronate. Your shoe needs also change based on what type of running you are doing. (Racing, trail running, distance running.) Runner's World has a quarterly shoe guide that is much more geared toward different running styles/stances. The best thing to do is to go to a specialty running store and have them check out your running stride on a treadmill. If they dont have a treadmill, get out of there! Also, make sure they will let you return shoes. I've done 40 or 50 miles in shoes before I decided they were not for me. A good running store will take them back.

This article has it all wrong. You don't start with the shoes. You start with you. Your running style, your foot stability, the type of surface you run on, your weight, everything about YOU. Then, after you figure out all that, you can find a shoe that is a good match. I know of a good resource that is actually a running shoe store owner who shows how to find the best running shoes for you. http://www.runningshoesexpert.com
Good luck,
