The Good, the Fat and the Hungry
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss
Welcome to the Good, the Fat and the Hungry. I'm Karla and I have been -- or am -- all those things. Here, I will share with you my lifelong struggle with my weight and I hope you'll follow along on with my determined attempt to lose nearly 40 pounds. I promise to tell you every win and setback along the way every Tuesday and Friday. I was a chubby baby. I was called baby fat before Kimora Lee was even born. Baby fat followed me through puberty and I managed to pick up some more fat along the way. The numbers on the scale rarely went down but I spent thousands of dollars on all things diet to change that. Far more easily, those lazy numbers very energetically managed to find their way up. From a 10-pound baby to a 386-pound adult in my mid-thirties, I worried I was going to eat myself into an early grave.
I made a decision to have gastric bypass surgery in January 2006. I was at my highest weight of 386 pounds. I was fat by all standards. I even hated my weight on the moon scale and that's like 1/98th your earth weight. Today I weigh 199 pounds and am hopping, skipping, running and jumping to get to my "ideal" weigh of 160 pounds. I plan to tell you all about it. Right here. The good, the bad and the hungry. No way I can get this far and let those wicked scale numbers creep up. May it never be!

You can do it. Whenever that evil voice inside your head tells you it is too hard just remember how far you've come. Realize that you can go even farther. This comes from a woman who went from a size 22 down to a size 0 (all by exercising and eating healthier. Before, I could not not jog a half block, now I run 1 hour a day and bike 1 hour a day. I don't worry too much about the quantity of how much I eat (I can eat quit a bit. I didn't get to be 245lbs for nothing) I concentrate on the quality. Lots of fruits veggies and water w/ lemon. Also remember patience. I did not become a a size 22 overnight and it took a few years for me to surpass my goal weight too. Think of it as a lifestyle change and you will definitely lose more than expected. Wearing your skinny jeans in time for next summer! Give yourself enough time to lose and set realistic goals. Don't look at the scale until after your monthly cycle. You'll see it start to creep up around that time and it will discourage you and make you think that you aren't making progress, but you are. Try not to weigh yourself too much as well. You don't want to self sabotage. Live smart and God bless, girl.
