Daily Fit Tip: Avoid hangover hunger

After a booze-fueled night out, you'll probably find yourself gorging on junk. But don't let a few too many shots derail your diet.
It's all down to blood sugar, you see. According to our friends over at Fitsugar, when you drink heavily, your blood sugar can drop dramatically, causing a surge in appetite both the night of the drink-fest and the next day.

But how do you avoid the hangover hunger? Offer to be the DD. You'll save yourself the alcohol calories and be a favourite among your friends. Not an option?
  • Eat before you start drinking. It will help keep your blood sugar level
  • Pace yourself. Have one glass of water for every glass of whatever your drinking.
  • Drink a big glass of water before going to bed and upon waking up. It will help flush out the toxins.
  • Before the night out, buy a healthy, ready-to-go meal like a salad high in protein. You probably won't feel like cooking when you're under the weather, so having something healthy right in front of you will make the decision to eat well easy.
