Thanks to TV commercials, you know that yogurt is good for your digestive health because of the probiotics. But did you know that you don't need the yogurt to get the probiotics?Acidophilus, the active ingredient in yogurt that is responsible for its tummy-soothing properties, is available in lots of forms--most notably in capsules or pearls. So you don't need the yogurt at all! Now, we're not saying that yogurt is bad for you, but it can be high in calories, sugar and fat. And if it's not high in these things, it's high in artificial sweeteners. The healthiest yogurt is plain yogurt, and you're free to add your own fresh fruit.

But if you don't like yogurt or are sensitive in lactose, don't fret -- acidophilus capsules will help alleviate gas, bloating and constipation.
