A new reason to get up off your butt

There's a reason that fluffy sofa is called a La-Z-Boy. There's also a reason why sitting on it may land you a similar appellation.

Researchers from the University of Missouri found that sitting down too often causes the shutdown of an enzyme that prevents fat storage. According to the study author, who was interviewed in Men's Health magazine, "The enzyme is mostly found in the muscles that keep you standing up, so if they aren't active, it doesn't function."

Couple this with the fact that we burn far less calories while sitting when we do standing up, and I'm sure you'll suddenly feel the urge to jump to your feet.
