Tiger's boo boo fixed

Posted on Jun 26th 2008 11:30AM by Bev Sklar

The Bionic King of Golf's left knee underwent an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL) this past Tuesday. It's reported Tiger Woods' surgeon is "pleased with the results." Outsider orthopedics are forecasting a successful recovery. I suspect Tiger's practicing R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevation) like he practices golf. Knowing Tiger, if he's not tethered to an automatic icing machine, he's probably practicing 6 ft-and-in putts from a seated position.

Tiger, here's a little wisdom from a That's Fit blogger. I had my left ACL reconstructed in 1997, and had my meniscus trimmed, too. Like you, I remained active after injuring my knee, which delivered an extra complication -- a meniscus tear. Although I wasn't winning professional golf tournaments, I simply couldn't refuse a 350-mile bike ride across the Colorado mountains.

Now I assume you want to return to the Tour as soon as possible. But really, don't rush your rehab. Amidst your roaring progress in the rehabilitation gym, take a few leisurely tiger naps, too. Give yourself time to lick your wounds a bit before testing your cat-like reflexes to the max. Listen to your trainer. Be a wise cat. Your loyal pack of fans will wait patiently, so you can return with a strong, new knee able to withstand many more years of legacy-building and trophy presentations.
