Man sheds 80 pounds eating McDonald's
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss
If you're suddenly trapped inside a McDonald's for six months -- don't worry -- there's plenty of food to survive and you may even lose a few pounds. In fact, a Virginia man lost 80 pounds by eating nearly every one of his meals at McDonald's over the last six months.
Chris Coleson weighed 278 pounds and had a 50 inch waist this past Christmas, now he's at 199 pounds with a 36 inch waist. No more Big & Tall stores for him. Coleson did it by choosing salads, wraps and apple dippers without dipping in the caramel sauce. His goal is to reach his wedding weight (185 pounds) -- the Colesons celebrate their 10th anniversary today. Happy Anniversary!
Amazingly, Coleson walked into a McDonald's every day and didn't once order a Big Mac Value Meal. How he ate salads and wraps for six months is beyond me. So next time you stand at the counter fretting over the Double Cheeseburger Meal or the Premium Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken, just remember Coleson. You can stay healthy in McDonald's for one day with a little willpower.

It's great to exercise choice, losing that extra weight would make a huge difference in Mr Coleson's life.
Can any health professional really commend and promote this unhealthy nutrient poor diet?
It's great to exercise choice, but it's really best to choose to exercise!!

Yeah, there are a lot of ways to lose weight, and good for him for losing weight, but this is not - sustainable. Eating heavily processed fast foods that are devoid of a lot if the nutrients we need won't work long-term.

There's something to be said for his will power in resisting the Big Macs! But I'm a little concerned for his health:
"Coleson did it by choosing salads, wraps and apple dippers without dipping in the caramel sauce."
Hope he's taking vitamin and mineral supplements!

Didn't you guys read this story? And have you ever eaten a Mcdonald's salad? Carrots, chicken, tomatoes, pea pods, etc. What's nutritionally devoid in that? And apples? I think he has done an amazing thing, and done it very smartly.

He got all of his nutrients in that. The salads are not processed(the chicken may be). He was showing that McDonalds does not make you fat, its you and poor choices.

He couldn't have gotten "salads, wraps, and apples" at the grocery store or his home?...and at a quarter of the price at that ( a bag of salad fixings vs a $5 salad) Or is Mickey D's just so gourmet that way?

I would easily lose weight by eating all meals at McD's. I would be so sick by the end of the second day that I wouldn't eat for a week.

It isn't where you eat...but what. Just it coming from a fast food restaurant does not make it devoid of nutrients. But some have the idea that salad is just water...not nutritious. Ridiculous. Eating a salad at McD's is a very healthy choice. Nothing processed about it. He is doing great.

People are commenting without reading the article. He ate ONE of his meals there a day and ate salads, wraps and apples. You can't call that highly processed food or a bad diet.

Hello
I think that is awesome. I lost 70 pounds eating Mcdonalds and I maintain it off and continue to eat Mcdonalds as I work at one. No I am not paid to say this either. The super--size me movie made me mad. It is a matter of choice. I also did it by eating muffins and cheeseburgers also not just wrap, salads and apples. I am fit and work out at the gym also. I been doing this for 4 years and no health problems. Actually at the gym my bm is one of the lowest for someone my age.(middle 30 year old.)
I wish people would quit putting McDonalds down.
thanks

Anyone who reads this article and takes any interest in it at all seriously needs to watch the documentary film, "Supersize Me." Two hours of your time watching it could save your health if you eat McDonald's food on a regular basis.

Look at the reality of the movie the guy chose to eat super size items and large sandwiches. It is a matter of choice. yes he should die but you could with any brand of food and large amounts like that.
Do you know a combo meal at ANY fast food is enough to feed 2 adults. so next time see the little size movie eating happy meals with apples and see no health problems :)

You can eat some of McDonald's items while doing Weight Watchers. It all has to do with portion control and choices.

It is a matter of choice. Lets see the movie little size me and see someone eat a happy meal and not the over size meals. A combo meal at ANY place is enough to feed 2 adults.
so dont talk about seeing the movie super-size me that is a movie about a guy that chose to eat himself to death. that could happen anywhere even at home if it large portions. It is all about portion and choosing the correct food.
