Crash diet renders Richard Simmons bald
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment, Men's Health
A crash diet at age 19 left Richard Simmons bald, says the fitness guru. Which is, in essence, why he has such crazy, curly hair today. Sound strange? It is.Simmons said he had 4,000 hair follicles transplanted after his unfortunate hair loss 41 years ago. The result? That massive head of hair he has today.
Simmons' story comes up as part of a larger story featured in USA Today about hair transplants that require the transplantation of only 120 follicles, and not the current standard of 2,000. Hair regeneration therapy is the name of this hairy breakthrough, and Intercytex is the company trying to market it. Studies show 11 of 19 men who have tried the procedure have successfully grown hair six months after treatment.
You might not want to sign up for this hair fix just yet. It's still in the pioneering stages. And it's not clear just yet how much it costs. Better to take the wait-and-see approach for now. And for those who don't need such a hair-raising intervention: Steer clear of crash diets or your circumstances just might change.

Crash diets are never healthy. I am a personal trainer and weight counselor and unfortunately the only thing that works for sustained weight loss is a combination of reducing your calories and getting some exercise in.
I am all for any tool than can help with weight loss as long as it is healthy. Fad diets usually don't work, and neither do diet pills. I do feel that lower carb eating
(not low or no carb, just limiting processed "white foods") in general is healthy, but I think of that as more of a way of eating than a fad.
As snacks I love berries, almonds(24 almonds is one ounce and a nice
snacks), flavored rice cakes (the chocolate is fantstic with a
teaspon of peanut butter)
Here are a other few tips that I give out:
Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If you can't be
perfect in your eating don't make the day a wash and start
"tomorrow".
Try to eat something you truly enjoy every day.
Try to eat tomatoes in some form..lycopene is great for all
especially men!
Get a pedometer and try to walk 10,000 steps a day.
If you don't get enough fruits and veggies take a good multi vitamin.
Try to get exercise in when you can. I have read about smartsoles on
many aol boards and they actually work, they increase calories burned
with each step and tone muscles http://www.smartsole.com There is a promo code that I found for them too. THINGZ15 gets you 15% off
And the best thing I did for myself as a single woman is get a pet.
It has reduced stress for me and added to my happiness.
Try not to eat your heaviest meal too late.
Don't hold grudges!
Again all are "tries". nobody is perfect!

My sister was obese her entire life, when she was 33 she jsut decided she didn't want ot be fat any more. So thru alot of hard work, she lost over 100 lbs and was featured on ABC's EXTREME MAKEOVER.

From people I know who have been around this guy, he is an arrogant, narcissistic dolt. He looked like Bozo the Clown with the hair, so he may actually look better without any--if that is possible.

Budo, none of what you say is true. You obviously don't know anybody who knows him. Actually, I doubt you know anybody who knows ANYBODY...or anything.

Web wrote saying they must have used pubic hair. Web, there are many people, including I, who have frizzy hair. This is not pubic hair. Compassion and wisdom are important things. I am sure you have them. Please draw upon them.

Jane:
Re Smart Soles. I have been wearing them in my 'treadmill' sneakers for about three months now, and it's like walking on air! I bought them because I did too much walking last Fall in two contests - the walking itself wasn't a problem, but I got too ambitious and did a lot of walking on concrete streets, checking out new housing areas. Big mistake. I should have stuck to the tarmac and my treadmill. I'm still suffering from plantar fasciitis from back then. I love walking so Smart Soles are well worth the money!Q
