Actress Kristen Johnston drops 60 pounds
Johnston has reportedly shed 60 pounds in the past year and a half. You may say the 40-year-old Johnston looks a bit too skinny -- check out this photo and see what you think -- but here's what she has to say about it: "When actresses lose weight, people think they are anorexic. It is important to me to say that this is not the case here."
Johnston says after doing shows, she'd get all hopped up and have a couple of drinks with friends. Then she'd stay for another round, maybe some pizza, and dinner often came at 11 PM. This lifestyle caused her to balloon, and she grew from a size six to 12. She was miserable, she says.
It was a burst ulcer in December 2006 that caused Johnston to take a hard look at her life. She stopped drinking alcohol, added veggies to her diet and embraced oatmeal, salads, and salmon too. She's focusing on her health now and while she thinks she may need to gain back six to eight pounds, she feels great and is no longer stressed about her body. She's in a happy place, she assures us.

WHATever, I don't believe it for a second. It's Hollywood, she couldn't get a job, sooo lose weight, and get obsessed about it, then get a job. It's sad, but true. I can't believe people fall for it. I mean, LOOK at the after picture, yah, if someone thinks that is healthy, you don't know what health is.

She was SO beautiful before so it's ridiculous that she went to such extremes. She DOES look sickly whether she wants to admit it or not. As has been said previously...WHO came up with the size 0 or 00 as being a real size? Actresses? Models? Delusional people?? So now she's just one of the rest of them. It's quite possibly the male's fault in movieland since they are so small the women have no choice but to be thin. Take a peak at the wax museum and see the real size of the "men" so many of us think are sexy. They weigh the same as my son did in grade school. Shocking.

THIN IS ALWAYS BETTER. BEING HEAVY COMES WITH TO MANY COMPLICATIONS. THIS IS WHY YOU WILL NEVER SEE A HEAVY OLD PERSON BECAUSE HEAVY AND OBESE PEOPLE HAVE A SHORTER LIFE SPAN.

1st she's too fat, then she's too thin (according to people who don't matter. for example, not her). I'm 5'10 and I'm about the same size as she is in the picture of her walking her dog. Yes, I do try to run 3-5 times a week, but I'm not starving myself. This is just how I am. I actually LOVE oatmeal, salads, and salmon. They're in my top five favorite things to eat (right next to granola and caramel/pecan apples).
For those who don't understand sizes... a tall size 12 is not the same as a regular size 12 or a petite size 12. So if you are 5'7 (which is NOT considered tall by a real tall person's standards) or 5'3 the size 12 that you may wear is NOT the size 12 that I would wear. A size 12 for a woman of 6 feet is either medium or large depending on how her weight is distributed. Maybe not extra large, but it is definitely not small. She's now the size that she wants to be and the diet that she mentioned is healthy and easy to do long term. It's called normal eating habits! Did anyone read where she talked about drinking a lot, eating late, and having an ulcer? THAT is not normal. She's happy and healthy and that's what's really important.

If true she's lucky to be alive! I was on life support due to hemorraghing peptic & duodenal ulcers, also septicemia. At 5'7" size 10, my weight plummeted to 83lbs. Pre-teen sizes & training bras. Due to malnutrition I lost finger & toenails, also my hair. My muscles & surgery gave way & all my internal organs relocated outside my body. I lived that way for 2 years w/ileus, ongoing renal failure & intra abdominal abscess. My insides had turned upside down w/my stomach under my intestines & my colon protruding out my navel. Without repair I would die & no surgeon could make such a huge repair till a Mayo Clinic Gastro surgeon came to Chgo's Northwestern Memorial Hosp. Because my repair is so huge I will always live in pain & the threat of ileus. 2 years later I am still trying to work on my abdominals. My problems all started when I underwent an oral reconstruction performed by a dentist who didn't believe in antibiotics. After 4 failed root canals & no antibiotics my dentist drilled through my molar destroying spreading bacteria causing septicemia. All rather than honor a replacement crown. I am very lucky to be alive & no longer greatly physically deformed. This beautiful young woman is truly lucky to be alive...AND I GOT MY NAVEL BACK!!!:-D

I belive the term to describe Kristen would be "tall" not "just plain big", with comments like that no wonder she went on a diet/exercise frenzy...

The link is not working, but who cares. I stopped at the part where the article states she was a size 6 and ballooned to a size 12. At six feet tall? I am sorry, but a six footer at a size 12 would not have looked as heavy as she was looking. I'd say she had to have been at least a 14 or even larger. I am so sick of celebs lying about their sizes and weight. I read somewhere a while back that Drew Barrymore weighed in at 95lbs. Haha! Impossible! I mean, my skinny lanky 13 year old son (5'3") weighs 100lbs! No one with curves and boobs could weigh that little. LIARS!

As if a size 12 wasn't a perfectly normal and healthy size, especially when you're that tall. Jeers to her for continuing to propagate poor self images for women everywhere.

I'm sick of people saying a size 0 isn't a real size. It is. I wear a size 1, but in some cases can fit into a 0. But I am not anorexic or sickly. And I'm not average height either, I'm only 4'11", so that for me is normal, and I am perfectly proportioned. I'm sick of size 12, 14, 16 ladies saying size 0 is sickly and disgusting. Their just mad. Go on a diet. I'm not saying you HAVE TO BE a size 0-2, no. But America's average size has ballooned in the past 10 years, it's ridiculous. 10 years ago the average woman was a size 4-6. Now a size 14 is seen as "normal". Everyone's different and sized differently. Let's just leave it at that and stop the hate. And as for women like this, shrinking down so drastically, that's their problem, and it is sickening when they do it for someone else or something like to get a job.

And back in the day of Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe, size 12 was the norm!! These women were curvacious and beautiful, not twiggy and lanky!!!

It's not that sizes 0-2 aren't real or w/e, it just depends on the person's height. I'm 5'3 and a size 8 w/ a smaller waist (but that's a different problem with sizes) and I have no problem seeing shorter people at size 0; when I see someone standing 5'11 barefoot and wearing a size 0 THEN there's a problem. I also know that in actual sewing sizes, you would be about a size 4 or 6. Companies nowadays lower the actual size so people feel smaller, when they are actually 2-4 sizes bigger than they think they are. The fact that Marilyn Monroe wore a size 12 is true, but back then it was actually a size 4-6 in our sizes now. It's all done to make the consumer feel better and build brand equity. If anyone wants to challenge what I'm saying 1) go look at a sewing pattern and 2) ask a fashion professor at a university (I'm an apparel design major, fyi)

Im right there w/ u...I HATE that just because ppl cant fit into a size they have to make fun of it. Im 95lbs and in 10th grade. im also 4'11' and its perfectly normal! God forbid anyone says anything about larger sizes everyone would FREAK OUT! so, i think its rediculous that ppl trash the "lighter" ppl. Its not delusional to be small. Another thing, health can present a major problem if you're over weight. Maybe its okay for some to feel over weight. But, for others it may be the issue of health, self- esteem, and physical ability. So, all i'll say from here is that a "0" is a very real size and no one can say that its due to being annorexic or unhealthy. In a few cases you may be right. The rapid rise of annorexia is rediculous...but some ppl r just smaller.

The sizes today are totally stupid. I hate it when people say, "I'm a size ----" becuase that doesn't mean a thing. I am 5'2" and pretty small, but I have curves. So when I go shopping in the ladies department, I wear a 4-6, when I go to a upscale boutique, I wear a 0-2, and if I go to juniors department, I wear a L-XL. It's crazy that there aren't standards to what a size is! There have been times that I have put an item back on the shelf because it bothers me that I have to wear an XL (I know that's stupid, but I just think it's ridiculous)- and then there are other times that a size 2 falls off! I think that women's clothing should be more like men's. When my husband goes shopping, he knows his size and it almost always works for him!

I dont even know this girl but I have fought the fight for years with being overweight and I cant say anything except I think she looks good, hope she did it healthy plus it makes me envious that I am not a pretty size and younger too, lol. But weight is dangerous and I can vouch for that since I have high bp and had heart bypass surgery 18 years ago, and recently had surgery on the artery on my neck, and all I can say is, keep your weight off as that is something I find so hard to do and it is not a healthy item you need to take around with you each day. I give this lady thumbs up as I wish I could lose 60 pounds, and hopefully one day I will without being sick and it happening. Just you young people, take care of your body and let the weight be one important part of controlling. A lot said but I feel I needed to say it.
