We've all got them: Health assets and liabilities

I just read something, somewhere, at some point during the past few days that's got me thinking -- not about how my memory often escapes me but about the topic of my reading: health assets and liabilities. We've all got them -- good health practices and bad health practices -- and it's wise to review them now and then and use them as a compass to affirm what we're doing right and steer us in more healthful directions too. Here are some of my assets.
- I don't drink soda or alcohol.
- I don't eat sweets or red meat.
- I limit bad fats, sodium, sugar, and calories.
- I eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
- I eat lots of salads, no dressing.
- I run and walk a lot, like every day.
- I maintain a healthy weight.
- My pantry is void of chips, cookies, and other packaged goods.
- Mostly, my kids snack on fruit.
- When I allow my kids to indulge, I buy single serving packages of goodies.
- I wash my hands after I go potty.
- I brush and floss.
Here are some of my liabilities.
- When I eat out, I attack the bread basket.
- When I eat nuts, preferably cashews, I know no limits.
- When faced with crackers, I inhale them.
- I think I have a problem with carbs.
- I don't buy organic.
- I'm afraid of supplements and probably could use some.
- I rarely stretch.
- I don't engage in strength training nearly enough.
