Tango with a mango in June
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
June marks Mango Month, a time of year when an amazing five varieties of this tropical-flavored fruit are available, each touting a unique flavor and texture.
Did you know one cup of sliced mango contains 110 calories, zero fat, 28 g carbs, 1 g protein and 3 g dietary fiber? They're loaded with vitamin C and serve up a decent amount of vitamin A, too.
The National Mango Board has a terrific website that will answer most any question you might have about the mango, from three methods of slicing, tips for selection and handling, a load of recipes and even kid-friendly mango games. Here are three quick 'n easy recipes I thought looked great!
- Grilled Chicken with Mango Ginger Chutney: Tired of grilling chicken and serving rice on the side? Spice it up with this delicious-sounding chutney.
- Cinco de Mango Salsa: You'll be the talk of the party if you bring along this salsa!
- Tropical S'Mores: Mango and toasted marshmallows sandwiched between molasses cookies -- mmm.
