4 wacky ways to lose weight
We know the standards when it comes to weight loss -- less calories, more exercise, lots of water, not a lot of junk food. Now check these out -- some unconventional ideas for losing a few pounds.Go Blue. The color blue functions as an appetite suppressant. So serve up dinner on blue plates, wear blue while you eat, and cover your table with a blue tablecloth. Then avoid all visions of red, yellow, and orange while you eat. Studies find these colors encourage eating.
Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall. Hang a mirror across from your seat at the table and you may eat one-third less than normal. Looking at yourself while you chow down will remind you of why you're trying to lose weight.
Smell This. If you sniff a banana, an apple, or a peppermint when you feel the urge to eat, you're likely to feel less hungry and lose more weight. One theory: sniffing these foods tricks the brain into thinking you're actually eating it.
Dress Up. Next time you go to a social event, dress yourself up and let the compliments flow. With everyone telling you how great you look, you'll surely want to watch what you eat. Oh, and wear blue!

Makes sense to me. No wonder there are no fast food places with blue in their corporate colors. In fact, McDonald's uses red and yellow ... two of the appetite stimulating colors in all of their stores and as a part of their corporate logo. They're encouraging us to eat and eat and eat!

Its hard being overweight! My sister was obese her whole life and simply decided one day she didn't want to be heavy any more. It was a lot of hard work - but she lost 100 lbs in 1 year and was featured on ABC's EXTREME MAKEOVER. If you want to read more about how she did it? check out

On the trial with Naltrexone, is that high dose naltrexone or low dose naltrexone. I take low dose naltrexone for MS and it works wonders.

littlewing1217, the reason McDonalds is heavy into red and yellow is that hot primary colors appeal to children. Next time you're at Toys R us get a look at the plastic playground stuff.

I'm currently in a clinical trial that is using a combination of buproprion and naltrexone, specifically to block food cravings and overeating, and I've lost 33 pounds in 7 months. It's been slow, but steady. I have about 20 more pounds to go.
This has been fairly easy, and without very much exercise.

Eating healthy is not that easy for me. Every time I make a commitment to myself that I will eat healthier, it always gets broken by junk food lying aroung my house. How do I stop?

No rocket science here. It's as simple as calories in vs. calories out combined with a little bit of common sense.

I always thought it was green to make you want to eat less. I've always found that a light green makes my stomach upset. Hate to look at it when I have the flu.

Fortunately I haven't had to deal with problem myself but I have a friend who is very heavy and I see all the looks people give her. She had diabetes when she was pregant and gained over 70lbs. Peopl can be so mean. It's sad that you can be a drug addict, alcoholic, anorexic but you can't be heavy in this country. Next time you see a heavy person trying smiling at them.

No matter what we do it is very hard to lose weight, we all need to remember that and try to encourage each other. No matter if your skinny or heavy we should all be nice to everyone no matter how they look.
