Oh man. This is one of those statistics that makes you either swear off eating all together or throw your hands up in the air in disgust. I mean seriously. Who is the guy with the weird job which allows him to research these odd little details? I'd hate to be his wife, as he comes home each night with all the yucky tidbits in life that I really never want to know.

I learned about my bug consumption while flipping through the June 2008 edition of Women's Health magazine. Seems more the type of scoop you'd find in Maxim, but no ... it was my beloved Women's Health that broke the news.

Since you haven't stopped reading this by now, I'm guessing you'd like me to tell you the wretched truth. The average person inadvertently consumes almost two pounds of bugs each year. Ick! Ew! Yuck! You may not realize how much that actually is. Your loving online Fitzness trainer (me) is sweet enough to share the horrid details with you. Imagine the size of a two pound dumbbell. Dumbbells are dense, meaning they compact a lot of weight in to just a small bit of space. Bugs are not dense. In fact they are pretty light. How many bugs would it actually take to tip the scale for two whole pounds? Lots and lots and lots. So ... maybe I just gave you a better reason to tighten up on your diet. Maybe you're just laughing your butt off. I'm on the verge of both.
