Vote for the sexiest vegetarian
PETA is holding is third annual world's sexiest vegetarian contest. Past winners, including Kristen Bell, Carrie Underwood, Alicia Silverstone, and Tobey Maguire are all in the running again. You can cast your vote here. According to PETA, each vegetarian saves the lives of more than 100 animals per year -- cutting down on the environmental impact of raising animals for food as well as, hopefully, reducing demand and the cruelty that is sometimes practiced in meat production.
PETA also states that, on average, vegetarians are 10 to 20 pounds lighter than those who eat meat. And, PETA's research indicates that many vegetarians state that they feel better, have clearer skin, and have more energy on a vegetarian diet. If you're considering a vegetarian diet, be sure to do your research. It can be a very healthy way of living but it requires taking steps to get enough protein and iron.

Not that I'm a fan of PETA, but it's good to see that PETA is showing off some famous, attractive, healthy vegetarians by allowing people to vote for the most beautiful one. I have noticed that vegetarians tend to be thinner than non-veg people.

Try not to be turned off to a vegetarian diet just because PETA can be annoying with some of their actions. Unfortunately, they are an organization that "climbed" the mountain, but fell off the other side. Their original intentions were good. Perhaps their fervor made them too much like what they hated in the first place. Not unlike many other organizations and countries for that matter :-(

I've been a vegetarian for 18 years and almost all of my ancestors in India for the last 4+ generations were lactovegetarians. Nothing PETA does would change that, but I feel that they sometimes hurt the cause. This contest helps because it shows that vegetarian celebrities admired by the general public are successful, healthy, and beautiful. Normal people get a lot of flack for being veg. so this is a great idea. I blogged about antivegetarianism too on my blog, comes up really high in Google search results, (Things I've Noticed).
