Eat fast food for a month, drop five pounds?
That's what Credit Suisse restaurant analyst Keith Siegner did for all of April 2008 and somehow managed to lose five pounds. Yep, that's right, he only ate at fast-food chains like McDonald's, Wendy's, Subway and Domino's for 30 days straight. But unlike Morgan Spurlock, of 'Super Size Me' fame, he actually lost weight.
His diet consisted of about 30 chicken sandwiches, 27 salads, and 14 burgers, amounting to a total of 52,020 calories, 1,534 grams of fat, including 472 grams of saturated fat, 142.3 grams of sodium and 3,165 grams of protein, reports Markets-Hub.com.
That's a lot, but Siegner really did lose five pounds as well as lower his
How did he do it? He apparently controlled his portions and ordered off kids' menus.
Siegner says he took in an average of 4,755 milligrams of sodium a day, double the amount suggested by the government's Dietary Guidelines for Americans, reports Bloomberg, but on the plus side, he also averaged 47.5 daily grams of fat, 27 percent less than the recommended maximum daily allowance.
I wouldn't recommend his diet, but I guess it's true that as long as you stay away from the more outrageous fast-food items, there really can be some healthier, better fast-food choices.

Great. Give people the idea that this 'diet' is healthy. Even if ordered from the kids menu, fast food everyday is not heathly...no matter how much weight is lost.

Eat to live, don't use food as an excuse. Cut out the crap and you'll soon be where you should be weightwise; as far as your head space is concerned, cut the crap there too, so what mommy didn't make you feel special, try to be special in your own right, live to live.

The Atkins diet has always worked best for me. I ate all I wanted , didn't get hungry and lost 30 lbs in 2 months. It's not FAT that puts weight on you, its CARBS. Insulin converts glucose to fat. If you don't eat any carbs(glucose) nothing gets converted to fat. Read the book .

It makes me wonder what he was eating before, to lose five pounds in a month! He was probably hungry constantly, that's the main problem when eating a diet high in fat, low in FOOD. I couldn't survive on kids Happy Meals, I need real food, consisting of double the food and half the fat.

Give me a break - the nutrition content of most fast food would lead you to health problems later in the form of chemical content, lack of vitamins and minerals, and too much starch. Why is hypertension and diabetes so rampant in this country? (Not to mention obesity.) And as for "losing 2 lbs in a month"...please, that is nothing to brag about, depending especially on your weight and body fat content. Even if we try to "eat healthy" in this country, the likes of Monsanto, ADM, and ConAgra are making our food supply less nutritious. The dietary habits & practices of the average American are atrocious, and korporate Amerika will keep it that way...

His previous diet and lifestyle definitely need to be included. If he's the type of person who can eat 2 cheesesburgers, large fries, and a soda regularly and not gain weight, then it's no big surprise that he lost when he ate less, is it?
I wonder what type of point they were trying to make. Certainly not that the average American would follow these habits or has such a metabolism.
