Sock it to me! I need some advice
I'm stuck! I've been teaching fitness for almost twenty years., and I often feel like I know all there is to know about body mechanics, weight loss, and fitness equipment. Today though, I'm totally stumped. My socks suck, and I can't seem to find a pair that don't!
I have been running a lot lately, and the only thing that bothers me after mile three is my socks! Ack! They're driving me nuts, and on the verge of giving me blisters. SO! I come to you, my brilliant That's Fit readers for help. Tell me about the socks you love and which ones I shouldn't waste my money on. This fitness pro needs your advice. My feet would like to thank you in advance.
Sock it to me!

Puma low-rise socks are the best!

I like low cut Asics with ankle padding for extra support around the Achilles tendon. Also, I'd double check with your shoe manufacturer that the shoe you're wearing is a jogging appropriate variety. Too much room in the toe box (such as you'd find in a cross-trainer) can make your socks shift and bunch. Just a thought.

I use Balega hidden comforts. http://www.balegasports.com/home.asp . I've tried almost every tech/moisture wicking sock on the market and these are my favorite. I usually run about 4 times a week, one of those being a long run that ranges from 7-20 miles. One of my friends swears by the new style bamboo/wool socks that are starting to show up, but I have not tried them yet.

I have tried a bunch of different socks specially designed for running, and I keep coming back to the same ones -- Nike makes socks (or they used to, mine are all two years old, I run 35-50 miles a week, and only 2 pair have so far gotten holes in them) that are super thin and come in a bunch of different colors. They have different fabric around the middle of the foot which provides support and keeps the socks in place. They are thin and light and somehow keep my feet dry even though I am in a place where it is super humid and the rest of me is absolutely drenched in sweat at the end of a run.
