Simple ways to get more fiber in your diet

Many people count calories and fat grams, but when it comes to losing or maintaining a healthy weight, fiber is important too. Fiber is bulky, so it helps you feel full quickly and stay full longer. Regular fiber consumption helps to regulate the digestive system and also protects the heart.

So how do you get more fiber in your diet? Diet-Blog shares a few fiber rich foods to try:

  • beans, beans, and more beans
  • potatoes (skin on)
  • whole grains
  • lentils
  • fruits
  • nuts and seeds
  • raspberries
  • oatmeal
If you're new to adding fiber to your diet, take it slow. Too much fiber too soon can cause gas, bloating, and cramps. Slowly add fiber-rich foods over the course of several weeks and drink plenty of water, which the fiber will absorb.
