What to wear: Yoga

If you're thinking about attending your first yoga class, first of all, congratulations! All kinds of people enjoy the benefits of yoga, and you're about to join them!
You should know that, as long as you're wearing something that's comfortable, doesn't restrict movement, and won't make you too hot, any clothes you choose should be fine. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when packing your gym bag for yoga class:
- On top: Don't choose anything that will constrict your breathing, but be aware that some poses will have you with your head lower than your waist. Therefore, if you don't want your belly to show, you might want to wear something slightly fitted or that can be tucked in.
- On the bottom: Yoga pants are a great option for lots of people, but some folks (like me) prefer a little more air circulating around the legs. Opt for capris or long shorts -- if it's too short, you'll end up showing your instructor far more than you intend. If you wear pants, make sure they're not too long -- you don't want to step on your pants while changing poses.
- For the feet: Some yoga studios and classes allow shoes or socks -- I prefer to go barefoot in order to feel my foot against the floor. Before you go out and buy special footwear, call and ask about the policy.
- Hair: You'll want it out of your face enough so that it's not distracting, but you'll be laying down and possibly standing on your head, so don't put it up in a fancy 'do because you might have to take it down to be comfortable.
- In general: Baggy clothes are fine, to a point. If you're interested in learning proper form, though, don't select excessively baggy clothing as it will make it harder for your instructor to help you with the poses.

I agree theres no need to go out and spend a bundle on new gym clothes to start out just wear what is comfortable and lets you move freely.

I am just getting my feet wet in yoga. And I do not care so much about my wearing. I think wearing comfortable is enough. At first I went to my Yoga class, but I wanted to enjoy nature, so I canceled my gym membership. And now I practise my yoga with the video that I found online: http://dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=93463&ru=279 , It's good. I am so tuned in to my breath now and feel my energy is so much better. So, I think Relax is the most important.
