The best of breakfast

Occasionally grabbing breakfast on the run is one of those inevitabilities. After all, who hasn't overslept or woken up only to find that the last bit of cereal milk has been usurped by the last breakfaster? And grabbing breakfast on the go is better than not having any at all.

Doughnuts? Seriously? Ugh. I agree - that Starbucks wrap sounds pretty good but otherwise, crap. I'll take the Burger King egg & cheese croissant over sugary breakfast items any day. Not sure if there is trans-fat in the croissant, but still. And they list one of McDonald's salads as a breakfast choice. Is it really a breakfast choice? Again, if forced to eat at McD's for breakfast I usually get scrambled eggs and some pancakes (for the lack of a better choice). And their "syrup" is totally corn syrup with maple flavoring - along with all of the condiments you get there (for example very little honey in the honey mustard).
Most mornings I drink a big cup of soy milk and make it till lunch when I'm in a hurry.

I think when they listed these, they were looking strictly at the calorie and fat content of the foods, which isn't necessarily the best measure. I'm with you -- Donuts for breakfast is my absolute last resort. Give me something with protein any day.

You are totally right, Martha, we are "taught" to focus on calories and low-fat foods, but look at where this is getting us (us being Westernized nations)! I prefer to focus on: "the way mother nature intended" - or "quality vs. quantity"
