Fit Beauty: Going to the dogs
I know that people who don't have pets or who aren't big animal lovers can't understand how those of us with furry friends can possibly think of dogs and cats and friends, family members and even children. I suppose these people think it's ridiculous to shell out perfectly good money on specialty treats for pets. To an extent I can see where they're coming from -- fancy clothing for cats and dogs is a bit extreme in my opinion -- but I will happily spend hard-earned cash on fun stuff for my dog.
I know that I'm not the only one. Most major, dog-friendly cities (Vancouver being the first that comes to my mind) have got fancy dog salons and boutiques in pretty much every trendy neighborhood. While I usually stick with funny squeaky toys and the occasional cute new collar, other dog owners out there will open their wallets for specialized grooming products, accessories, clothing, bedding and more.
There are plenty of fun beauty products for your pooch that can be purchased online. One of the most stylish and sophisticated sites is Sexy Beast. Billed as "100% Vegan, 100% Safe and 100% Sexy", the site offers a range of items, many of which have to be seen to be believed.
One of my favorites is the signature fragrance -- that's right, perfume for your mutt! It comes in a bone-shaped container and includes vanilla, patchouli, mandarin and nutmeg scents. It actually sounds like something I might wear myself. They also offer coat-care products including shampoo, conditioner and finishing products, dog tags that can be customized, tees for both pet and owner, and gift sets for those who want to really pamper their pooch.
Unsurprisingly, it's all pretty expensive stuff so it's obviously not for everyone. But for those who can afford it and are willing to spend that kind of money on their dog, the products look really great.
Another fun online pet beauty site is Pink Pawz. The online site offers a range of clothes, accessories and beauty products for dogs. I've got to say that I do think some of the clothes on the site are a bit much, but I also think that if it makes you happy to dress your dog in the "Ashley Simpson Dress", then go for it. You can choose everything from coats and jumpers, formal wear, sleep wear, top and tanks, harnesses and more.
Some of the accessories offered include collars, leads and leashes, and tags, as well as the slightly more surreal sunglasses and hats. Owners can also spoil their pooch with comfy beds and cushions, carriers, and health and beauty products including grooming bows, fresh breath spray, nail polish, toothpaste, and a range of shampoos. There is a tonne of stuff available from this site so if you're looking to find something new for your pooch, this is a good place to look.
There's nothing wrong with spoiling a beloved pet a little bit, especially if it makes you feel good to do it! What's the craziest thing you've ever bought for your dog?
