Look out for lemons in your drink
Categories: Womens Health, Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements, Men's Health
Lemon slices are often standard in some drinks at restaurants. And since lemons are a pretty healthy way to add some tang to your beverage, we don't think twice about this. But experts caution that we should think about what's in--or at least on--that lemon. Recent studies revealed that 77% of lemons were loaded with a number of alarming microrganisms, as well unwanted add-ons like ... ick ... fecal matter.
What do you think? Should we be worried about the lemons at restaurants, or is this another example of a minor issue blown out of proportion?

Of course they found all those things...
show me info that says someone became ill as the direct result of a slice of lemon in their water or tea, then I will stop :-)

I personally think it's rubbish.
If the lemons are unsanitary, that inevitably means ALL the food in restaurants must be unsanitary (why would a cook be any more inclined to wash his hands before making a sandwich than before touching your water?)
So what shall we do, boycott all restaurants until some other bogus finding gives us the green light?
You can go ahead and hide in a sterilised corner with your detergent and tea towel; I like a little lemon in my water.

Martha - that youtube vid is no longer available...
I waited a lot of tables in college, there are plenty of scary things I could talk about in regards to practices at restaurants and the people who work there. But at the end of the day, we all share germs. Your best defense is to keep your immune system strong, period.
