Fitness DVDs for kids

My son never stops moving. The moment he got home from school today he was riding his scooter around the neighborhood. But sometimes during the worst of the winter months I was scrambling to come up with physical activity ideas for him. I bought him some active toys and I'd set up relay races for him to run in the house. He also joined a basketball team and we'd frequently visit the sledding hill. Still, both he and I missed the warm days where he could just hop on his bike and burn off steam. These fitness DVDs for kids would have been a great solution.

While my son doesn't battle childhood obesity, it's a prevalent problem in our society. Physical activity is such an important tool in a parent's toolbox -- preventing or helping obesity, keeping kids entertained, developing positive social experiences, and building confidence. But not all kids like team sports or outdoor activity. These DVDs sound like a fun and encouraging fitness opportunity for all kids. The choices are:
  • 65 Energy Blasts -- short hip-hop routines (one minute, 15 seconds each) that can be done one at a time or combined for a longer workout
  • 6 "Fit Kids" Fitness Workouts -- Fun five or ten-minute dance oriented workouts
  • Get Strong 101 -- Strength and conditioning activities made fun for kids.
The DVDs will be available in many stores and at online retailers on May 13, 2008.
