Fit Beauty: Looking good despite a hangover
I tend to think that moderation is the best way to go when it comes to most things, including alcohol consumption. However, I'd be a liar if I said I always followed my own rule. We all overindulge from time to time -- sometimes it can be easy to get carried away when you're having a good time. Despite the resulting hangovers, life goes on and we all have to pay for our overindulging.
If you find yourself in a situation where you've woken up with a raging headache, nausea, red eyes (etc) and don't have the luxury of laying around all day recovering in front of the TV, here are some tips from AOL's All About You on how to look good if you're hungover but still have to go about your daily life.
The first thing to do, both from my own experience and according to the piece, is to rehydrate yourself as much as possible. Even if you don't feel like it, try to drink water both before you go to bed as well as when you wake up. It's tough to stomach gallon upon gallon of H2O when you feel like garbage but it will make you feel better and make your skin look better. A hot shower will also help wake you up, rehydrate your skin and hopefully sooth tight muscles.
Take care of the morning-after smell by adding strong-smelling (a bit of soap may not mask the scent of booze seeping out of your skin) essential oils to your bath or shower. The articles states that lavender works well. As for your breath, it says you should make sure to brush, floss, scrape your tongue and finish off with a peppermint (or maybe some mouth wash).
The article recommends that you air dry your hair rather than exert what little energy you have blowing hot air into your face (the last thing you need is to get a case of the sweats) and then pull it into a messy bun or cute ponytail with a few tendrils hanging down. As the piece says, a thick headband will also help hair look somewhat presentable without taking too much time or effort.
As for your skin, apparently using a tinted moisturizer in the morning will help reduce a ghostly pale pallor, while a bit of blush will also add some much-needed color to your face. As for eye make-up, it's best to keep it to a minimum so you'll stay fresh-faced. Start with eye drops to reduce redness, curl eyelashes, use brown (not black) eyeliner, a bit of mascara and that's it.
A few final tips include wearing comfortable, but not slovenly, clothes, exercise if you have time (it may not sound appealing but the rush of endorphins will make you feel better) and, if all else fails, hide behind sunglasses whenever possible.
If you're a guy looking for some man-specific tips, check out this page from ivillage. Granted, like the tips for women, a lot of these can be followed by both sexes but it's still worth a read for hangover sufferers whether male or female. Advice includes making sure to shave but also to ensure that you don't let your foggy head allow you to miss any spots with the shaving cream (big, bloody nicks aren't going to make you look any better), and to use an alcohol-free spritz toner on your face to help rehydrate skin.
The article states that it's also a good idea to avoid coffee and stick to water (again because of the dehydration effect) and also to use a good eye cream that is meant to calm down puffy skin and hopefully reduce the look of dark shadows.
Do you have any tips on how to look good even with a hangover?

I don't have any tips but this article was EXACTLY what I needed this morning! I read this site every morning before I leave for work, and this morning I am...hungover! A little too much wine last night, not enough water, and my eyes and head are showing it! Thanks for the tips!
