What's staining your teeth?
Categories: Alternative & Green Health
The other day, I went for coffee with a friend, and instead of ordering her usual cup of joe, she ordered a cup of tea. 'Cutting down on caffeine?' I asked her. 'Oh no,' she told me, 'But I've noticed my teeth haven't looked as white lately and I suspect the coffee has something to do with it.' Which, of course, made me look wistfully at my beloved Americano and wondered if I was doing my pearly whites a disservice.Truth is, considering that my few joys in life are coffee and red wine, the answer is probably yes.
However, I've never really considered the effect my daily coffee has on my teeth. Have you? If not, check out this article from AOL on the top teeth stainers. Here are few surprising sources of discoloured teeth:

Lucky for us there are a million products to whiten teeth that actually work! I drink coffee all the time, and I continually get compliments on the whiteness of my teeth and questions about what bleaching treatments I've had done.
If you're going to drink coffee, take a pack of whitening gum with you. Rinse your mouth out with water after the coffee and pop a few pieces of gum in.
Every time I brush my teeth I use the listerine whitening rinse before. I know this works because when I go on a trip somewhere without it my teeth look more dull.
Those two are my favorite, but if you can handle the whitening strips, those definitely work as well. I used to use those but my teeth got unbearably sensitive.
You can definitely have your coffee and white teeth too!

My teeth, what are left of them, are very "dingey" now.
But at least I am alive!!
A car-smash in 1989 took some of them; osteo-arthrosis (brittle bones, lack of calcium, magnesium and bone marrow density) has weakened them - and being the victim of an attack with knuckle-dusters (a row of metal "rings" ) when I was running a public house in 2006 has finished another few off.
The dental hospital took 6 months to repair my face this last time, because of the bone marrow thing, and my age.
They manufactured a set which slots in AROUND the ones they saved in the Conservation Suite - and these are an almost perfect match to my own teeth! Amazingly, not one person has yet detected that I have a plate in my mouth.
As to caffiene and flouride.
I am allergic to taniene (how do you spell these things?) so cannot even drink de-caf or tea. and our water (UK) is full of flouride, and other chemicals to keep us "healthy"
huh!!??
I think we have gone crazy about "health" in Britain.
My granny used to lift soot from the chimney, rub her teeth and wash her mouth out with bicarbonate of soda and then get rid of the gritty taste with a "wee dram" of her favourite Darjeeling tea...::} no, she was Temperance.
She never touched a drop in her entire lifetime!
lol
so, at least I am alive.
Live independent of any support or assistance.
and I can eat with my plate out! (embarrassing in a posh restaurant, but hey! if I dont smile, or talk with my mouth open, who knows???? )
be well all
and stop FUSSING about your looks.
Make your HEALTH your priority.
read my blog about taking back your controls and finding your freedom if you want to see what I am doing.

Yup, my adult teeth were stained beyond belief from drinking too much flouridated water as a child (one of the reasons I don't let my own kids have too much of the crap). The only solution really for people like me is to have veneers put on, but that's just not in the future (cost).
Of course, flouride is supposed to be an ultimate good, right? It can't possibly do any harm or cause self-image problems, oh no. And oh well.
