Dannon sued over yogurt claims

I'm not usually a sucker for advertising, but the cold and flu season has hit my family hard this month. Looking to boost our immunity after three weeks of colds, fevers, stomach flus, and nasty coughs, I picked up a couple packs of DanActive, along with every fruit and vegetable I could stuff in my cart. I had no idea if it would work, but I figured it couldn't hurt.
A recent class action lawsuit makes me wonder if I wouldn't have been better off just buying the less expensive store brand yogurt instead. Critics say that the makers of DanActive and Activa (who claim their product will regulate the digestive system) have wildly exaggerated the clinically proven health benefits of their product. Dannon, who makes both yogurts, stands by their products.
The bottom line is that yogurt is good for you. But can it improve your immunity and cure your digestive complaints? The answer to that remains to be seen...

I never quite understood their claims in the first place. The Activa stuff said that it had friendly bacteria to help regulate digestion...but doesn't all yogurt have that? I'm not surprised about this, food marketers will stick anything on their product if it means you'll buy it, regardless of how true it is.

I have a super sensitive tummy since I have been zapped with food poisoning several times while traveling the world. The stuff certainly does work for me. This is a one person test and I speak only for me. It does make the night a lot easier to deal with as I certainly notice the difference. It makes the digestive tract relax at night.

Commenting not just to Kayla:Eating Yohurt(Activa) helped us tremendously with digestion. I used to make my own from unflavored and packing fresh blueberries,or Splenda with a drop of honey or vanilla will flavor so kids like it. Whatever the lawsuit was about I don't really care. Claims that yoghurt helps with digestion is most important---and life cultures-oh well..taste some of the other Brands --they do taste dead as a doornail LOL

I use it, but after being sick for 6 weeks straight last winter, I'm not taking any chances. I'm also eating better, drinking more OJ, WASHING MY HANDS CONSTANTLY... the way I look at it, every bit helps and if they've added something to DanActive, that's one more thing to help keep me from maybe being sick for so long again!
As far as that Activia stuff, I used that once thinking it was the DanActive product and got a good clean out instead! LOL!

So what's the big deal. It's the same as claims that eating cereal is good for your heart. Totally bogus!
Eliminating bacon, sausage, eggs, french toast, butter... now that's good for your heart. Cereal has nothing to do with it.
Companies misinterpert things to sell their products. It is up to you to decide whether or not it is the truth.
Let the buyer beware!

Hold on,,,,
Dannon didn't say that they added something or that they had something in thier yogurt that no one else has.
All yogurts contain mostly the same stuff, and YES, these things will help digestion and help build immunity. Then again so will an apple and a piece of celery each day.
Dannon only advertised that they have these things in yogurt and that yogurt is healthy.
So why the suite?

I have been taking Danactive-l.casei immunitas for about seven months now and I think it is great! Before taking Danactive every year from around september to febuary I would catch a cold and it would last all winter long . I am happy to say that I have yet to have a cold this winter season and I take a Danactive every day. Keep up the good work. THANKS
