Daily Fit Tip: Conquer your cravings

Other tricks for trimming down, according to E! News, include popping some breath strips before eating -- this will temporarily kill your taste buds -- and snacking on parsley, enjoying a handful of nuts 30 minutes prior to a meal, partaking in a little salad with vinegar on top, and brushing your teeth. Matthew McConaughey reportedly does it 10 times a day. Maybe that's how he keeps his killer bod.
Reader's Digest experts offer a few tips for controlling cravings. Destroy temptation, they say. And they mean destroy. Take the package of cookies you mistakenly bought, dump them in the sink, and douse them in water. Your temptation will be gone, and you'll feel a sense of accomplishment at having licked your binge.
Go nuts! Eat an ounce of nuts -- six walnuts, 12 almonds, or 20 peanuts -- and drink two glasses of water. Wait 20 minutes and your altered body chemistry will dampen your craving. So will avoiding your trigger foods. Avoid grocery store aisles where your favorite foods live. Drive a different route to work if it helps you kick that doughnut habit and if you really must give in to temptation, plan wisely by allocating the right amount of calories to fit your healthy diet.
I say: Let the moment pass. Cravings typically only last for 10 minutes. Once this time has passed, you'll feel great about the food you didn't eat.

I'm a HUGE believer in destroying. I go to Disneyland every friday night, and the temptation for sweets is insane in that park. I have great will power these days, but sometimes I get a piece of candy. I eat half of the chocolate covered pretzel and toss the other half immediately. I do this at work too. When I coming off funk food, I was immediately throw it away after a couple bites. I stopped buying junk all together since I didn't like wasting money and food that way. I don't crave any sweets anymore for the first time in my life. Although, white bread is sooo hard to resist. In restaurants, I drink two huge glasses of water with lemon while my friends are eating up all the white bread. I sometimes have ONE bite.
